Tip of the Day

Do you have small children?
Are you planning on dying Easter eggs?
Are you planning on boiling up several dozen eggs so that 3 or 4 eggs will survive the dying process?
Have you started taking medication(s) in hopes of not killing your children before the "fun" has ended?

If you answered yes to the preceding questions then I have a tip for you!

Simply slip your egg into a wire whisk and let your little ones dip their eggs into the dye. Truthfully I haven't tried it yet but I'm excited to let Grace give it a try this year. It can't be worse than eggs hitting the bottom of my mugs with a loud CRACK! Let me know if you try it out too!

I'm Soliciting Advice

OR

Emma loves baths and showers but FREAKS OUT if water even hints at getting into her ears. How do I get her over that fear? We can't convince her that it's not a big deal, it doesn't hurt, and it comes right back out. She won't listen to anyone when it comes to her ears.
It's driving me crazy!

World's Best Sugar Cookies

Just in time for Valentine's Day I thought I'd share my favorite recipe for sugar cookies. They are big and thick and taste pretty close to Lofthouse or Granny B's cookies. Jeff and I both think they taste even better a day or two after they are made. If you make them let me know what you think-honestly!

Sugar Cookies
1 C. butter
2 C. sugar
6 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
5 C. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. baking soda

Cream butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Mix dry ingredients in a seperate bowl. Add the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients and mix well.

Bake at 350 for 8-10 minutes. Bake only until bottom of cookies are slightly brown. Makes 5-6 dozen.

Butter Cream Frosting
1/3 C. butter
4 C. powdered sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1-2 tsp. vanilla
1/4 C. milk
(food coloring optional)

Cream butter, add other ingredients except milk. Slowly add milk until frosting is the consistency you want.

Here is a picture of our cookies from last Easter; I simply put my frosting in a Ziploc bag, cut off the corner and went to town! At Christmas we kept it simple and frosted them solid colors.
