World's Best Sugar Cookies

Just in time for Valentine's Day I thought I'd share my favorite recipe for sugar cookies. They are big and thick and taste pretty close to Lofthouse or Granny B's cookies. Jeff and I both think they taste even better a day or two after they are made. If you make them let me know what you think-honestly!

Sugar Cookies
1 C. butter
2 C. sugar
6 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
5 C. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. baking soda

Cream butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Mix dry ingredients in a seperate bowl. Add the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients and mix well.

Bake at 350 for 8-10 minutes. Bake only until bottom of cookies are slightly brown. Makes 5-6 dozen.


Butter Cream Frosting
1/3 C. butter
4 C. powdered sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1-2 tsp. vanilla
1/4 C. milk
(food coloring optional)

Cream butter, add other ingredients except milk. Slowly add milk until frosting is the consistency you want.

Here is a picture of our cookies from last Easter; I simply put my frosting in a Ziploc bag, cut off the corner and went to town! At Christmas we kept it simple and frosted them solid colors.

Recently I was lucky enough to enjoy watching a FOX out in the field by our house. He stayed around for a few weeks mostly just wandering around. One day when I looked out I was lucky enough to watch him catch some lunch. I'm not sure what it was, but even a few birds ended up following him trying to get a few scraps. He's gone now, but I keep checking the field, hoping to see him again. It's pretty cool to live in a subdivision that has a little bit of wildlife right outside my window (at a safe distance)!

I {heart} naps!

There's not much that is sweeter than a sleeping child. I've taken countless pictures of my sleeping kids-for some reason they look so cute/quiet/peaceful/perfect, when they are sleeping!

Our church time recently changed to 9 a.m. I have a love/hate relationship with 9 a.m. church. I loathe getting up early one more time in the week, but I love coming home and taking a good nap after lunch (especially when it's cold out)! I also love feeling like I've got the whole day to do things, instead of getting home after 4 and rushing out the door to see our families. Now it's time to go and enjoy my day of rest...
